We have heard your concerns about the safety of Subaru
vehicles should the air bag deploy.
First: Please note that NONE of
our driver's side air bags are affected by the Takata situation
because our supplier for these air bags is a different supplier named
Toyoda Gosei, which uses a different inflator system.
Second: Only passenger side air bags in the following models are affected by
the Takata recall and a recall notice has already been issued:
* 2003my, 2004my and 2005MY (only some regional) Legacy and Outback;
* 2004my and 2005MY Impreza (only some regional);
* 2003my, 2004MY
and 2005MY (only some regional) Baja.
Air bag inflators in the
above models are currently being recalled and collected to determine
if there are any issues with the inflators on Subaru products.
Third: All current model year vehicles are NOT affected by this recall or
investigation. These models use either a different air bag supplier
or use a different inflator mechanism.
